Founded in 1925, the Columbian Squires program was created to give teenage boys leadership training and moral guidance that would serve them for a lifetime.

Today more than 20,000 Squires ages 10 to 18 have fun and share their Catholic faith, help people in need, and enjoy the company of friends in social, family, athletic, cultural, civic and spiritual activities. The Squires motto is Esto Dignus (Be Worthy).

Squires belong to more than 1,300 circles located throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, and the Caribbean. Knights of Columbus councils and assemblies support circles and Knights serve as adult counselors.

During the 2004 calendar year, Squires reported contributing 413,133 hours of service to Church, community and youth programs and made a total of $193,635 in charitable contributions.

They also gave 81,469 hours of service to sick or disabled members and their families, and collected blood donations from 340 members.
